On Saturday 28th November 2024, WAN Aid hosted its much-loved Winter Bazaar in Cardiff, one of the largest and most anticipated fundraising events on our calendar. Held twice a year since 2011, the Bazaar has become a cherished tradition that celebrates Sudanese culture, unity, and giving back.
A Day of Colour, Culture, and Community
The day was packed with joyful energy and a strong spirit of solidarity. Twenty local sellers participated by hiring tables and showcasing a variety of goods including:
Traditional Sudanese clothing
Perfumes and toiletries
Jewellery and handmade items
Visitors enjoyed browsing the stalls, supporting small vendors, and engaging with the rich cultural heritage represented throughout the event.
Tastes of Sudan
No community gathering is complete without food! The Bazaar featured a delicious spread of traditional Sudanese dishes and sweets, generously donated by over 20 women from the Cardiff community. Their incredible contributions were sold on the day, with all proceeds going to support WAN Aid’s work in Sudan.
We are so proud of the strong network of women who make events like these possible — your generosity means everything.
Gratitude to Our Volunteers
We extend a heartfelt thank you to our dedicated volunteers in Cardiff for their tireless work behind the scenes. It was a team effort, and your commitment turned a great day into an unforgettable one.
A special mention goes to Sami, our youngest supporter, who designed the event leaflet, a lovely touch that brought even more life to the event.
Making a Difference
Thanks to everyone’s effort and generosity, we are thrilled to announce that we raised £1,500. Every penny has already been sent to Sudan to provide support for families facing hardship.
Thank You for Standing With Us
At WAN Aid, we are deeply proud of what our community can achieve together. The Winter Bazaar was not only a successful fundraiser but a beautiful reflection of solidarity, culture, and hope.
Thank you to all who took part, supported, and shared in the joy of the day. Your kindness continues to make a difference.
